Cake With Pink BackgroundI love cake! For as long as I can remember, I've had a sweet tooth. As a young boy, I remember loving fudge popsicles and ice-cream bars. My grandfather, GT (Gloma Theron), introduced me to Mountain Dew.

To this day, my sweet tooth is alive and well. There is nothing better than a piece of chocolate cake paired with a glass of milk.

Cake is pretty sweet! So is working with an independent insurance agent!

If you're looking for insurance, there are so many companies to choose from. How will you decide? Here's my advice: Have your cake and eat it too!

Why Independent Insurance Agents?

Consumers care about 3 things: Product, Price and Service. (Relationship is part of service.) Let me tell you why working with an independent insurance Agent is like a delicious piece of cake:
  • Product: You won't find better coverage or product offerings than if you work with independent agent. The companies you may be most familiar with are great at branding/marketing, but they lack in product broadness. If you want the best coverage, talk with an independent agent! I can show you countless examples where the independent agent offers a better policy than State Farm, Liberty Mutual, Farm Bureau, and Allstate. Note: Allstate has a sister company, Encompass Insurance that only independent agents can contract with. Encompass offers a superior product than that of Allstate.
  • Price: Despite what all the commercials may tell you, the independent agent offers a better price. If you're comparing apples to apples, you'll find a savings — and often times better coverage. The idea that one company is always the cheapest is simply incorrect. The GEICOs of the world are no different than any other company. That's why working with an independent agent makes the most sense. They have a portfolio of companies to offer, because not one size fits all.
  • Service: Is working with a random 800 number employee even considered a relationship? Is that employee a decision maker? Does he or she have access to decision makers? Is providing one company really good service? If you only represent one company, can you offer objective advice? When you work with an Independent Insurance Agent, you should be getting a firm that offers choice, expertise, and someone who is telling you the "what" and "why" in terms of your insurance. It's important to have someone who can explain the difference between what you have and what you need.
If you're like me, enjoy your cake. Work with an independent insurance agent, it's pretty sweet!
